End Use and Function

The notch and pocket plates operate within a selectable one-way clutch assembly. An electronically actuated solenoid manages torque transfer through a radial rocker and cam face, enabling controlled free rotation and engagement as required.

Fabrication

Both components are compacted with multi-level tooling engineered to manage complex rocker-box, spline, cam, and flange geometries. An engineered fill system promotes uniform density and protects critical features. After sinter hardening, automated machining, gauging, balancing, robotic deburring, cleaning, and rust protection establish the required dimensional and balance characteristics.

Results

The assembled clutch components passed dynamometer testing and vehicle life validation. PM processing significantly reduces machining and material waste compared with alternative metal-forming routes while providing the precision needed for high-speed clutch operation.
