End Use and Function

The reaction block and cam plate are integral components in a mechanical locking rear differential, providing precise spacing and locking mechanisms for optimal gear performance.

Fabrication

The reaction block is manufactured using a dual-cavity die, dual upper punch, and three lower punches, with ejector pins to prevent sticking. Machining cross-holes occurs post-sintering, followed by heat treatment to 35–50 HRC for durability. Made from FL-4405, it achieves a density of 6.9 g/cm³.

The cam plate, made from F-0008, is compacted to 6.8 g/cm³ and copper-infiltrated for strength. Its angled design ensures effective locking when detecting wheel speed differences.

Results

The reaction block and cam plate ensure reliable performance in the mechanical locking rear differential. Compacting and heat treatment provide necessary wear resistance, while the cam plate's precise design enables effective locking under varied conditions. Advanced inspection confirms quality, supporting efficient assembly and enhancing the overall durability of the differential system.
