End Use and Function

The fork connector integrates into flow-meter sensor assemblies used for continuous fermentation monitoring in hygienic, corrosive, and temperature-controlled environments.

Fabrication

A single-cavity hot-runner tool uses dual pin gates for symmetrical filling and reduced weld lines. Slides form undercuts and stabilize the wings, while multidirectional water cooling, localized bubbler cooling, balanced ejection, and comprehensive venting control distortion and prevent molding defects. Sizing corrects residual wing distortion after sintering.

Results

The smooth, pressure-tight component supports repeated sterilization and secure sensor assembly. Converting from a machined casting to near-net-shape MIM eliminates post-process machining and significantly reduces production time, cost, and material waste.
